Born in Ciudad Juárez in 1990, Morales graduated with a Bachelor's in Art Theory and Criticism from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez in 2013. He is currently an MFA student at Arizona State University.
His artistic contributions include participation in notable exhibitions such as the Whitney Biennial 2022 Quiet as It's Kept (New York, 2022); Getxophoto (Basque Country, 2022); Panoramic Festival (Barcelona, 2018); Mexico // The Future is Unwritten (Foundation Benetton Collection, 2015); the XIX and XX Biennial of Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia 2014 - 2016); V Festival A-part (France, 2014); the Belo Horizonte International Festival (Brazil, 2013); among others.
His book, "The Portrait of Your Absence," received a Special Mention at the Luma Rencontres Dummy Book Award 2022, was shortlisted for the Paris Photo - Aperture First Photobook Award 2023 and shortlisted for Encontros da Imagen Photobook Awards 2024.
Morales's curatorial projects span several institutions, including the Rubin Center for the Visual Arts, ASU Art Museum, EAC, Uruguay, and the Museo de Arte de Sonora, among others. He was an International Curator at Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño in Bogotá and founded Proyectos Impala, an exhibition space and mobile library in Ciudad Juárez. He also participated in the Mexico Curatorial Intensive by Independent Curators International in 2017.
Alejandro "Luperca" Morales (Ciudad Juárez, 1990) Graduated from the Bachelor of Art Theory and Criticism at the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez (2013). He has taken seminars and workshops in spaces such as the Node Center for Curatorial Studies (2015, 2014), FLACSO-17 Institute of Critical Studies (2013), and the University of Chile (2012).
