Holly Hendrix

Holly is a Master’s student of Spanish Linguistics and a Graduate Teaching Associate (Instructor of Record) at ASU set to graduate in May 2026. She teaches beginner, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate Spanish courses at ASU and enjoys seeing her students gain confidence in the language. She specializes in second language acquisition and teaching and has research interests in willingness to communicate, AI in language learning, and dependency parsing of noncanonical text.  

Outside of ASU, she has taught English as a foreign language in diverse pedagogical contexts, including work with children at a nonprofit organization in Ecuador and online courses with undergraduate students and faculty at the Universidad del Valle, Cartago campus in Colombia. She has also co-taught a Customer Service and Sales class in the DREAM Project’s A ganar program in Cabarete, Dominican Republic.

Holly has published translations that reflect her desire to make written material accessible to Spanish- and English-speaking populations. Her bilingual anthology, Despertar | Awakening, consists of Latin American poetry translated from Spanish to English to share these stories and sentiments with a wider audience. While at Morehead State University, she also collaborated with Morehead Public Radio News to translate news articles from English to Spanish. Providing access to critical information like flood resources and exciting information like community events was rewarding, as was the appreciation expressed by the Morehead Hispanic community. She looks forward to continuing to promote accessibility to quality education and translated material in her work.
