Franco Vargas Pallete's research is in geometry and topology in low-dimensions, mainly geometric aspects of hyperbolic 3-manifolds. He is interested in the impact of geometric functionals (such as length, area and volume) in the geometry and topology of manifolds in dimensions 2 and 3.
Some keywords of current interests are minimal surfaces, renormalized volume, Teichmüller theory, isoperimetric problems, systoles and extremal length.
