Alpha West Sannoh is a dynamic communication strategist, cultural researcher, and community leader with a multidisciplinary academic and leadership background. He is currently a graduate student at Drexel University, pursuing a Master of Science in Communication, Culture, and Media, where his research focuses on the power of media to shape cultural identity, diaspora relations, and public discourse.
Alpha holds two undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Management from the University of Liberia, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication and Media Studies from Arizona State University. This rare blend of business acumen and communication expertise allows Alpha to engage both strategically and creatively in leadership and public engagement roles.
A proud Liberian, Alpha actively leads in diaspora development and advocacy. He currently serves as the Board Secretary for the Quardu Gboni Mandingo Association in the USA, where he plays a critical role in advancing governance, education, and cultural preservation initiatives for the Liberian diaspora. In addition, he is the Director of Public Relations and Social Media at IGSA, where he manages digital storytelling and branding efforts to strengthen intercultural awareness and youth empowerment.
Alpha’s graduate research at Drexel explores the intersection of digital communication, identity formation, and diaspora activism. He is especially interested in how underrepresented communities use social media and digital platforms to advocate, organize, and stay connected across borders. His work uses qualitative methods like ethnography, critical discourse analysis, and narrative research to uncover how media both empowers and challenges cultural communities.
As a public communicator and servant leader, Alpha believes in using storytelling and strategic communication as tools for societal change. His work has supported community dialogue, educational awareness campaigns, and intergenerational leadership development. He is also deeply committed to mentoring young professionals and students who aspire to make a difference through media, culture, or civic engagement.
Looking ahead, Alpha aims to expand his research through a doctoral program or to take on leadership in a mission-driven media organization, nonprofit, or public institution focused on equity, communication, and global development. With his growing portfolio in academic research, leadership, and cross-cultural strategy, Alpha West Sannoh is poised to be a powerful voice in shaping the future of inclusive communication.
