Suzanne “Suzi” Templer, DO, FACP, FIDSA is the inaugural Associate Dean of Student Affairs at the Arizona State University (ASU) John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering. Her interests include coaching, leadership skill development, wellbeing in medical education, and professional identity formation. She is also a trained professional development coach who became ICF certified in 2015. Prior to her current role at ASU, Dr. Templer served as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Coaching Services at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. While there, she built up the coaching program from 5 to 21 coaches, allowing all matriculants to have a longitudinal coach from admission to graduation.
Dr. Templer is also interested in wellbeing during medical training and beyond and has created wellbeing programs for students, fellows, faculty, and staff at the University of Pittsburgh, Nova Southeastern University, and Lehigh Valley Health Network, where she served as the Chief Wellness Officer.
She also is a practicing Infectious Disease clinician with interests in atypical mycobacterial diseases and travel medicine.
