Dr. Steve Dentz has more than 27 years of experience as a clinical anesthesiologist. As the Anesthesia Clerkship Director at the School of Medicine and Advanced Medical Engineering, he brings his love for clinical medicine and teaching to the next generation of physicians.
His clinical practice has taken him from northern Virginia to Minnesota and finally to Arizona. While in Minnesota, as Obstetrical Anesthesia Medical Director at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Dr. Dentz worked closely with the Midwest Fetal Care Center to develop an open fetal surgery program. This program was involved in treating high risk fetal conditions such as myelomeningoceles in utero before birth.
He also had the privilege of attending the Physician Leadership College at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. His various clinical and industry leadership positions have included Chief Resident in Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center, Department Chairman at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, board of directors of Northwest Anesthesia, corporate medical director of American Anesthesiology of Minnesota, and regional medical director for Valley Anesthesiology Consultants.
