Long Bio

Jennifer Harrison is a sociologist with primary interests in teaching a wide range of sociology topics such as intro sociology, methods, health and illness, innovation and social change. She holds a doctorate in sociology and a certification as a patient advocate.

She is the current chapter representative and co-advisor of the sociology honor society Alpha Kappa Delta, Beta of Arizona chapter at ASU. From 2019 to 2023, she was the faculty of record of the SOC 101 Universal Learner Course through ASU's Learning Enterprise, creating sociology courses and leading session-based and cohort classes in partnership with the National Education Equity Lab and ULC teams.

Harrison enjoys teaching students to explore and apply their connections to larger social life. Before joining the Arizona State University faculty, she worked in academic publishing, creating digital and text products for higher education. Her experiences have aided her online course creation and engagement with students.

Harrison's primary interests involve medical professions and healthcare advocacy, social innovations, and student learning in the online environment. She enjoys working with students on their own education, research, and career goals and fosters a learning environment that encourages students to apply their own innovative solutions to social problems.
