Xiaodan (Dani) Dong has served as a Clinical Associate Professor of Marketing at the W. P. Carey School of Business since 2018. Prior to joining W. P. Carey, she served as an Assistant Professor at the City University of New York – College of Staten Island.
She received her Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Missouri. Her teaching interests include digital marketing, social media marketing, and international marketing. Her research focuses on digital media efficiency, earned media effectiveness, and market orientation in the digital era. Her work has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, and International Marketing Review.
In addition to her academic background, Dr. Dong brings substantial applied experience to the classroom. She has founded digital marketing ventures and has played a formative role in pioneering AI-driven digital products, from product ideation and model development to go-to-market execution across digital channels. These experiences inform her teaching by integrating data-driven decision making, AI applications, and emerging digital practices into marketing education.
Dr. Dong regularly collaborates with organizations in her courses to provide students with experiential learning opportunities. Companies interested in working with her students on digital marketing projects, social media initiatives, or guest speaking engagements focused on AI-driven marketing, marketing automation, data analytics, and emerging digital platforms are welcome to contact her for further information.
