Patricia Fall served on ASU’s faculty from 1989 through 2011. In addition to her position with the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning, she directed the Laboratory of Palynology and Paleoecology, and was affiliate professor in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change, as well as the School of Life Sciences.
Fall's research and teaching focused on biogeography, and especially human impact on ancient and modern environments, paleoecology of tropical Pacific Islands and the Mediterranean Basin, paleoenvironments during the rise and collapse of urban societies, and Quaternary environments. Her teaching included courses in physical geography, biogeography, quaternary landscapes, paleoecology, palynology, research methods, remote sensing and landscape change. While at ASU, she conducted extensive field research in Jordan, Cyprus, Tonga and other Pacific islands. As committee chair she supervised the work of 11 doctoral and 10 masters’ students, and served as a committee member for numerous others. She currently is a professor in the University of North Carolina Charlotte’s Department of Geography and Earth Sciences.
