Amber began her career at ASU in 2005 as a telephone operator, working in the historic Old Main building. Her role quickly expanded as she advanced to Office Specialist in the Telephone Services department, where she managed AP/AR, coordinated campus landlines, and cultivated relationships with networking and data vendors like Qwest/Centurylink & Kearney. She also oversaw all Verizon accounts across the university. When Telephone Services transitioned into Network Communications (Netcomm), Amber broadened her expertise in emerging technologies and data systems.
In 2011, Amber moved to Idaho for her husband’s aviation career. While there, she worked at a John Deere dealership, introducing the staff to Excel and streamlining their business operations. After a few years in small-town life, she returned to ASU in 2014, this time in the Physics Department, managing over 200 accounts and handling a variety of purchasing needs.
A five-year relocation to Texas saw Amber managing business operations for a specialty coffee roasting company, overseeing everything from roasting and blending to launching a 25,000-square-foot facility. She also devoted time to volunteering at a vintage aircraft museum, where she curated events and a website celebrating veterans and aviation.
During the pandemic, Amber juggled the complex role of Office/HR Manager for a national trailer manufacturer, overseeing financials, payroll, and HR operations for over 100 employees.
In 2021, she returned to ASU, stepping into a role with the Graduate Professional Student Association (GPSA) as a Business Operations Specialist. Her knack for problem-solving and adaptability earned her a promotion to Business Operations Manager in the Sr VP Office, where she is fondly nicknamed the “Junk Drawer” for her ability to handle any task that comes her way.
Outside of work, Amber is passionate about music, often attending rock and metal concerts. She also enjoys riding and training her horses and supporting her husband’s aviation interests, attending air shows and volunteering around airports. Her life is full of adventure and chaos, and she embraces it wholeheartedly.
