Richard Ashley retired in 2018. Prior, he was an associate professor in the School of Politics and Global Studies. His research focused on critical international theory, with primary attention to questions of statecraft; law, sovereignty, territoriality, and the production of rights-bearing citizen subjects; and the place and function of the modern university in all of these things.
He received his doctorate in political science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with specialization in international relations, foreign policy and defense studies.
