Robert Weigand, MS, IMH-E@ (IV), is the Director of the Child Development Laboratory (CDL) and Cowden Distinguished Principal Lecturer of Family and Human Development in the School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University. As Director of the CDL Robert is responsible for the early education and care of 50 toddlers and preschool-age children and for management of the CDL’s full-time and student staff. Robert teaches early childhood intervention and child development practicum courses and was co-director of the master of advanced study in infant-family practice degree program. He has served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Infant Toddler Mental Health Coalition of Arizona ITMHCA and is endorsed as an Infant Mental Health Mentor by the Coalition’s Endorsement for Culturally Sensitive Relationship -Focused Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health. He provides training in developmentally appropriate practice, early intervention and infant mental health for infant-family professionals. He has chaired the planning committees for ITMHCA’s training institute and the Sally Campbell Memorial Best for Babies Seminar, a state-wide conference focused on the special needs of infants and toddlers in the child welfare system. Before joining the Sanford School full time, Robert served as Director of Child Laboratory Programs for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, supervising both the CDL and the Department of Psychology’s Child Study Laboratory. Earlier, Robert was a faculty member and taught toddlers and preschool-age children in the laboratory preschools at Purdue University and at the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Child Development.
