Linda Costigan Lederman, Director, The Recovery Communication Project (TRPC), was a professor of health and human communication at Arizona State University (ASU), immediate past director of ASU’s Hugh Downs School of Human Communication (2014-2020), and former dean of social sciences (2007-2012) in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. An expert on recovery communication and alcoholism, communication and college drinking, and author of more than 105 books, book chapters, journal articles and conference papers on communication, her research has been funded by grants from federal agencies such as NIAAA, NIDA and DOE totaling more than $8 million. Prior to joining the faculty at ASU, Dr. Lederman was a professor of human communication at Rutgers University, a member of the faculty of the Rutgers Center for Alcohol Studies, and the founding director of the Center for Communication and Health Issues (CHI) at Rutgers, one of the first research groups in the nation to study the role of communication in alcohol use and abuse among college students. In 2010, she was named Rutgers University Distinguished Graduate in the Social and Behavioral Sciences, and in 2016, ASU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences named her as the recipient of the Gary Krahenbuhl Difference Maker Award.
