Dr. Edwards is an assistant professor of Environmental and Emergency Management in the Department of Technology Management at Arizona State University at the Polytechnic Campus. He has over 20 years of experience serving in industry, consulting and academia, with education and training in geology, environmental engineering, and emergency/disaster preparedness and response. Dr. Edwards is a certified hazardous materials manager (CHMM), a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trainer, and a Wilderness First Responder (WFR). Dr. Edwards' primary research interests are (i) campus emergency communications, (ii) groundwater supply, quality and remediation issues, and (iii) disaster preparedness, mitigation and response at the personal, family, business, campus and community levels. Currently, Dr. Edwards is working as PI for a $1.4 million cooperative agreement between Arizona State University and the Federal Emergency Management Agency on Campus Public Emergency Communications, and as an assistant to an Arizona State University project undertaken with funding from the Arizona Department of Homeland Security. He is a consultant on emergency preparedness.
