Williams' research focuses on the chemical composition of clays and their interactions with organics and microbes.

Hartnett has joint appointments in the School of Earth and Space Exploration and the School of Molecular Sciences. Her current research interests are in the areas of biogeochemistry, astrobiology, and organic geochemistry.

Dr. Thompson is a geochemist with a special interest in ancient marine environments. She is also a professor of geology, planetary science, astronomy, and environmental science.
