Stantchev's research interests focus on the religious, economic, political, and military factors that shaped power relations within Europe and throughout the Mediterranean, circa 1000 to circa 1600.

Prof. Vitullo studies medieval, early modern, and contemporary Italian cultures. Her current community-based scholarship and teaching focus on how to preserve traditional foodways for healthier & more sustainable futures.

Barker is a historian of slavery and the slave trade in the late medieval Mediterranean and Black Sea.
