Long Bio
Ahmet Dikyurt is a Ph.D. student and researcher at Arizona State University, specializing in Socio-Cultural Anthropology. He is affiliated with the School of Human Evolution and Social Change and the Melikian Center of Russian, Eurasian, and Eastern European Studies. Before joining ASU, Ahmet earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Psychology with double honors from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and a master’s degree in Anthropology from Texas A&M University (TAMU). As a cultural anthropologist, Ahmet’s research interests include identity formation, immigration, transgenerational trauma, border studies, and diaspora studies. Previously, Ahmet conducted research on Bosnian-Americans, exploring transgenerational trauma and identity formation, and published two articles on the subject. At ASU, Ahmet’s research focuses on post-1974 Cyprus, examining how the conflicts of the 1960s and 1970s have impacted second and third-generation Cypriots both in Cyprus and the diaspora. In addition to his work with post-conflict populations, Ahmet is also interested in mental states, cognitive dissonance, and language development.
