Liebig studies the organization, chemical communication, reproductive regulation, and behavioral and physiological plasticity of ants and termites with a focus on the colony, the individual, and the olfactory system.

As part of the Velazquez Lab in Biodesign's Neurodegenerative Disease Research Center, I am investigating mechanisms of basal forebrain cholinergic neuron alteration in Down syndrome and Alzheimer's disease.

Dr. Balmer is interested in how signals are processed in brain circuits involved in hearing and balance and their associated disorders including tinnitus and vestibular disorders.
