Andrea N. Montes is an assistant professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. She received her doctorate from Florida State University’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2018. She employs both quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate questions related to justice system practices, what factors contribute to their effectiveness, and where the gaps between scholarship and practice exist. Her current research focuses on corrections, correctional punishment, and school safety and policing as lenses for understanding how organizational aspects of the juvenile and criminal justice systems influence the administration and effectiveness of crime prevention and punishment practices.
