Long Bio
Werner Bonadurer joined the W. P. Carey School of Business as a clinical associate professor in finance in 2008.
Professor Bonadurer has been an active researcher in hedge fund investments. His graduate and undergraduate teaching focuses on security analysis, portfolio management, derivative securities, financial risk management, and international finance. His recent research appeared in his book, "The Performance Persistence of Equity Long/Short Hedge Funds."
Before joining W. P. Carey, Professor Bonadurer was a lecturer of economics at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and his doctorate in finance at the University of St. Gallen.
For more than 15 years, Professor Bonadurer has built senior executive experience with a leading global investment bank as he has lived and worked in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has been commended for his contributions to academia, most recently winning the 2014 W. P. Carey Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award.

For more than 15 years (1983-1999), Bonadurer has built worldwide management and senior executive experience with a leading global banking organization as he has lived and worked in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Assignments included positions as joint-chief operating officer of UBS’ Investment Banking division,member of the group executive board and global head of UBS’ Group Division “Trading and Sales” with overall management responsibility for the trading and sales of equity and fixed income securities, interest rate and foreign exchange products, precious metals and other commodities (1996-98), and as CEO of UBS in Hong Kong (1993-95).
