Ian Vicino is a Ph.D. student in the neuroscience graduate program working in the lab of Dr. Ian Hogue.
He earned his B.S. in biochemistry from Arizona State University in 2012, where he did single cell respiration experiments studying cancer. Then he earned his M.S. in biomedical sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he researched the biogenesis of small cajal body specific RNAs (scaRNAs). He returned to Arizona State University to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience where he is currently working on his degree.
His research is focused on neurovirology, studying viral infection of the nervous system. With the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Hogue, he performs live-cell fluorescence microscopy, and neuronal cell culture experiments to study how alpha herpesviruses interact with the cell biology of neurons
