Mickey is an Associate Professor of Statistics at Arizona State University’s West campus and a human‑centered AI researcher. Her work combines statistical engineering with human factors to design, test, and evaluate AI‑enabled tools in safety‑critical contexts while preserving human final decision making. Current projects build synthetic test environments and web‑based emulators to study human-AI teaming, trust calibration, and operator behavior in visual screening tasks. Methodologically, she is an advocate of principled design of experiments and interpretable analyses that respect natural data scales. Mickey collaborates with practitioners and federal partners, including components of DHS and DoD, to translate evidence into field‑ready evaluation protocols and policy‑relevant insights. At ASU, she teaches design of experiments, probability, and applied statistics, and mentors interdisciplinary student teams. Trained originally as an industrial and quality engineer and a Six Sigma Black Belt, she brings a systems mindset grounded in standards, reproducibility, and real‑world impact.
