Stacy W. Sendler is a General Chemistry Instructor in the School of Molecular Sciences at Arizona State University. She joined ASU in 2010, and currently teaches Introductory Chemistry in a new active learning classroom using a “flipped classroom” guided-inquiry model of teaching. In addition, she teaches general Chemistry recitation classes (CHM 113, 114 and 116) in the Chemistry Collaborative Learning Center (CCLC) on the Tempe campus. These classes use a guided-inquiry based model that has been shown to increase student engagement and retention. In past semesters, she has been a lecturer for General Chemistry I (CHM113) and Chemistry for Engineers (CHM114). She was awarded the Distinguished Instructor Award for teaching in 2015.

She received her BA in Organic Chemistry from the University of Colorado, and her MS in Environmental Chemistry from Northern Arizona University. During her graduate studies, she received a Graduate Fellowship at Los Alamos National Laboratories to study spectral interferences in groundwater analysis. Prior to joining ASU, she worked as a Materials and Processes Engineer in the aerospace industry in Colorado, and as an Environmental Scientist in the oil fields of northern New Mexico doing soil and groundwater remediation for areas impacted by petroleum contamination.
