Dr. Yi Zheng studies theories and practices in educational and psychological testing and assessment. Examples of her research are developing and validating tests/scales/measures, developing psychometric procedures for testing program operations, and designing computerized adaptive tests.

My research interest includes both the broader topics on measurement and assessment and the more specific topics on advancing methods and technology of test design, delivery, scoring, and analysis.
Examples of the broader topics include improving assessment pratices in higher education, exploring the paradigmatic relationship between measurement and machine learning, and validity of tests/scales/measures.
My main technical specialty is computerized adaptive testing (e.g., online calibration, item selection, exposure control, content balancing). My other related technical expertise include item response theory, multistage adaptive testing, automated test assembly, test equating, test security, and cognitive diagnosis.
