Long Bio
I am a Gender Studies PhD candidate, with certificates in Sexuality Studies and Disability Studies, in The School of Social Transformation. My research begins at the intersections of transgender studies, archives, affect theory, and phenomenology. My upcoming dissertation looks at descriptions of gender euphoria in trans community newsletters from the 1970s-1990s in the U.S. and Canada.
My recent publication “#TransTwitter: Affect, Transnarratives, and Gender Euphoria”(2021) presents how affirmation, community formation, and advocacy are embedded in a trans-specific social media space. My previous research explored bioethical concerns of assisted reproductive technologies, specifically surrogacy, through a Marxist lens.
During my undergraduate career, I organized and facilitated trauma-informed peer education on sexual health, violence prevention, and survivor support. I am currently the Graduate Student Representative for, and inaugural member of, ASU's Accessibility Coalition: an advocacy and social group led by and for disabled, neurodivergent, and chronically ill students.
