Since joining Arizona State University in 2016, Adam Pacton has advanced access and innovation in higher education through online learning and human-centered technology. He currently serves as an Associate Teaching Professor in the Writers’ Studio and as the inaugural Dean’s Fellow for AI Literacy and Integration in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. In this roles, he leads college-wide initiatives that prepare faculty, staff, and students to engage critically and creatively with artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, and professional practice.
Dr. Pacton also chairs the CISA AI Task Force, which drives strategy and support for integrating AI across the college, and the University Senate Committee on Digitally Enhanced Teaching and Learning, where he helps shape policy and innovation at the institutional level. His leadership in these arenas positions him at the forefront of aligning emerging technologies with ASU’s Charter.
He has developed and facilitated massive open online courses (MOOCs) reaching global audiences, advised on the creation of the Study Hall and Crash Course YouTube series, and coordinated large-scale first-year writing instruction at ASU. His research and teaching interests center on writing pedagogy, disability studies, and the intersections of AI, personalization, and scale in education.
He has twice received the ASU President’s Award for Innovation (2017, 2021) for projects that expanded educational access and transformed curricular design. Across his work, he is committed to building inclusive, technology-enhanced pathways that connect learners and educators locally and globally.
