Stephanie Lechuga-Peña, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work and has more than 20 years of experience in social work practice, working with low-income youth and families. Drawing on Critical Race Theory and Latina/o/x Critical Race Theory, she examines the barriers and facilitators to educational outcomes Latinx youth experience. Her research has two primary, intersecting aims: (a) culturally responsive interventions with Latinx families to reduce educational barriers by fostering parent-child relationships and improving health and well-being and (b) Latina/o/x/Chicana/o/x identity related to education.
