Caitlyn Zang, PhD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the Baccalaureate Health Programs for Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University. She joined the Sun Devil family in March of 2016. With a PhD in Higher Education from Azusa Pacific University, Dr. Zang’s research focuses on student success, sexual assault prevention, fraternity and sorority life, and women in leadership.
Dr. Zang is an accomplished higher education professional with over 15 years of experience across Student Affairs, academic program development, and strategic planning. Her work reflects deep expertise in faculty development, curriculum design, and cross-functional collaboration, including leading initiatives to enhance student retention, supporting faculty growth, and contributing to the academic success of diverse student populations.
As an educator, Dr. Zang’s teaching is grounded in active, constructivist pedagogy, supported by culturally responsive teaching practices and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). She designs learning environments that emphasize real-time application, social and relational learning, and accessibility for diverse and neurodivergent learners. Her approach prioritizes engagement-driven meaning-making, using real-world examples and interactive strategies to help students navigate complex concepts while fostering psychological safety and sustained engagement, particularly in large lecture settings.
Known for her ability to create impactful academic and co-curricular programs, Dr. Zang is deeply committed to fostering inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environments that promote both student success and institutional excellence within Edson College.
