Bruno Nowendsztern is completing a doctorate in Literature in Spanish at Arizona State University, specializing in Latin American and Chicano/a Cultural Studies. In his previous work at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he researched the representations of identities in sports literature, specifically analyzing short stories about soccer/football in Argentina and Uruguay. His current research at Arizona State University attends to the cultural productions of Hispanic populations in the US and in Argentina, with his dissertation focusing on how Argentinian identity is negotiated through gaucho figures and the famous soccer player Diego Armando Maradona. Nowendsztern has published a variety of academic articles, including work on the representation of Mexican-Americans in film, a case study of Hispanic Crypto-Jewish poetry, and feminist perspectives in the Chicana/o narrative. Concerning his primary area of research ––masculinities and feminism in Argentina’s cultural production–– Nowendsztern has published academic articles about 19th Century Argentine literature and cultural production in the current century, including the analyses of a feminist sitcom and the masculinities projected by athletes. Currently, Nowendsztern is editing a book on Hispanic identities in the Americas and Spain.
