Laurence Schneider

Larry Schneider received a BS degree in Statistics and Biometry from Cornell University.  After working as a statistical programmer in the pharmaceutical industry for 4 years, he took a position as a senior statistical programmer for American Express in New York and spent the next 20 years in the financial industry.  He finished his private industry career in 2003 as an Information Technology Audit director for Morgan Stanley.  Needing a change, Schneider pursued his passion for teaching by accepting a position as a high school Mathematics teacher, growing the Statistics program from 2 Honors classes of 54 students to 5 (Honors and AP) classes of 132 students by 2017.  He received an MS degree in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University in 2014 and moved to Arizona in 2017 to work as a Planning Analyst for the Office of the Provost at ASU.  His work focuses on exploratory data analysis and statistical analysis of student retention.  With his 14 years of teaching experience, Schneider was also able to teach 2 mathematics classes within the Maricopa County Community College system during the Spring 2018 term and is very pleased to be teaching statistics at ASU.
