Janet Pohl, PhD, RN is a Nurse Scientist and an Assistant Professor at the Arizona State University Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation. She received her BSN from the University of Portland School of Nursing and PhD in Nursing Science from the University of Washington School of Nursing. Dr. Pohl has been awarded Postdoctoral Fellowships with the Center for Healthy and Resilient Aging at Edson College and the Family Caregiving Institute at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, University of California Davis. She is also a former de Tornyay Center for Healthy Aging Master Scholar and a former Myrene C. McAninch Doctoral Healthy Aging Scholar with the University of Washington School of Nursing. Dr. Pohl investigates the health implications of social connectedness across multiple caregiver generations and the various aspects of social connection, focusing on the conceptual definition and measurement of the social isolation construct for research and clinical assessment. This work has been the foundation for her current caregiver social isolation and loneliness intervention research. Her research findings have been presented at numerous professional conferences and published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
