Eugenia Hernandez Ruiz received her Master's and PhD in Music Therapy from the University of Kansas. Her clinical expertise includes Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBI) and music interventions for autistic children, teenagers and young adults/on the Autism Spectrum, and their families; as well as women and children survivors of domestic violence. In 2004, she started a music therapy agency in her home country (Mexico), where she provides clinical services and professional supervision in music therapy, autism, and domestic violence. She has presented clinical and research posters and presentations in regional, national and international conferences. Her research has been published in the Journal of Music Therapy, Music Therapy Perspectives, Nordic Journal of Music Therapy, Psychology of Music, Review Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, and Arts in Psychotherapy. Her current research and clinical interests relate to parent coaching of music interventions for autistic children, music and wellbeing, and course-based undergraduate research experiences. She is Associate Editor of Music Therapy Perspectives and serves in the Editorial Board of the Journal of Music Therapy. She is a guest reviewer in several top-tier journals in music therapy, music, and developmental psychology. She is part of the Continuing Education Committee of the Certification Board of Music Therapist (CBMT) and part of the Advisory Board of Save the Music Foundation. She is secretary of the Asociación de Musicoterapeutas en México (AMME), the national association for music therapists, and chair of the Professional Training commission of this association.
