Sean A. Harrington is the Director of the AI & Legal Tech Studio at Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, where he leads applied AI strategy for the college, directs AI integration for the JD Online program, and teaches Artificial Intelligence: Application for Legal Practice. He builds and deploys legal AI applications, including RAG pipelines, LLM evaluation frameworks, and custom GPT systems.
He serves on the Harvey.AI Academic Board and the Clio Academic Board. He was named to the National Law Review / Wickard 2026 Top 50 Legal Innovators in Academia, is a 2025 vLex Fastcase 50 honoree, received the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) Exemplary Service Award, and is a member of the OpenAI Education Forum.
His empirical and doctrinal scholarship examines large language models in law, including forthcoming work in the Sedona Conference Journal on frontier models as forecasters of Supreme Court decisions. With Professor Hayley Stillwell, he co-developed a juror simulation platform (patent pending). Before returning to ASU Law, he served as Director of Technology Innovation at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and, earlier, as ASU Law's Law & Technology Law Librarian. He holds a J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, an M.S. in Data Analytics and Program Evaluation from ASU, an M.L.I.S. from the University of Arizona, and a B.A. in English Literature from UCLA. He speaks nationally to state bars, courts, and attorneys general, including at ILTACon, ABA TECHSHOW, Legalweek, and AALL.
