Born and raised in Los Angeles, Evan is a dedicated educator, sports enthusiast, and advocate for advancing organizational performance in the sports industry. With a strong academic foundation, Evan holds a Bachelor's degree in Education from UC Irvine and a Bachelor's degree in Social Policy and Public Service. Additionally, Evan has a Master's degree in Sports Law and Business from Arizona State University.
Evan began his career as a Community and Youth Basketball Fellow for the LA Sparks, mentoring future athletes in the Greater Los Angeles Area who had an affinity for the WNBA. He then transitioned to roles in football operations with the Los Angeles Rams during their move from St. Louis back to Los Angeles. Interested in other aspects of sports, Evan took on a role in game entertainment with the Los Angeles Chargers. With a growing passion for organizational performance, Evan later helped establish a foundation for the United Soccer League.
Evan then joined the Sports Law and Business Program at ASU, where he served as Assistant Director. In that role, he focused on strengthening the academic experience through curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and admissions. He also worked to expand educational opportunities for students while building relationships and external partnerships that advanced the program’s reach and impact.
Currently, Evan serves as the Assistant Director of Development with ASU Enterprise Partners, where he focuses on fundraising and growing innovative programs within the W. P. Carey School of Business. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions and as the Lead Advisor for African American Men at ASU, a student organization dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and developing Black and African American men at the university.
With more than a decade of experience as a basketball referee, Evan brings a wealth of expertise to the industry. He has officiated at various levels of competition and currently works as an NCAA Men’s Division I basketball referee in the West Coast, Western Athletic, Big Sky, and Big West conferences, as well as serving as an NBA G League referee. As a testament to his commitment to fostering educational opportunities, Evan created a sports officiating course at ASU, providing students with valuable hands-on experience, knowledge, and a potential career path in officiating. Through the course, he shares insights into the intricacies of officiating, including rules, leadership, communication, and the physical demands of the role. By offering mentorship and practical training, Evan helps students develop the skills needed to pursue officiating as a rewarding career.
Looking ahead, Evan aims to continue building innovative sports programs at ASU and beyond, fostering interdisciplinary connections and enhancing the student experience. He also seeks to provide strategic guidance and expertise to organizations across the sports industry, helping them navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and drive positive change.
