Guiding Research Questions:
- What are the equity implications of educational policies such as school choice?
Current Research Projects:
- I am using multiple years of PISA data to analyze the school contexts of immigrant students and the relationship between school characteristics and achievement gaps between immigrant and native-born students (with Margarita Pivovarova).
- I am using administrative data to analyze teacher retention and attrition patterns in Arizona over the last five years (with Margarita Pivovarova) to provide policy-relevant recommendations for addressing the teacher shortage in Arizona.
- Other ongoing projects examine the social construction of teachers using newspaper articles covering controversial issues related to teachers' employment, and historical and contemporary aspects of school segregation. I also continue to conduct research on different aspects of school choice.
