Jacob Foster is a fourth-year doctoral student in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Arizona State University. He graduated from Illinois State University in 2021 with his Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Sciences. Recently he has published a paper in Criminology and Public Policy which examined the impact of patrol officer communication tactics on suspect compliance as well as another paper in Police Practice & Research which used survey data retrieved from eight municipal law enforcement agencies to examine potential predictors of depolicing behavior. Jacob has also previously completed an internship with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC). Overall, his research interests primarily encompass police training, police use of force, and strategic approaches to the recruitment and retention of law enforcement personnel.
