Mehrdad Mirzaie is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist, curator, and researcher currently based in Phoenix, Arizona. His work centers on the afterlives of images and the politics of memory, particularly in regions shaped by censorship, state violence, and historical erasure. His practice employs photography, archives, and alternative image-making processes to explore how visual histories are preserved, reimagined, or lost.
He received his MFA in Photography from Arizona State University in 2025 and is currently pursuing an MA in Art History at ASU, where his research focuses on image-based art in Iran and the broader Global South. He is the founder of the Tasvir Archive Project, a research-based initiative dedicated to contemporary Iranian image-based art.
