Long Bio
Ulises (he/him/él) holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's in engineering education. He is currently a PhD candidate in engineering education at Arizona State University, researching the experiences of individuals from migratory/seasonal farmworker backgrounds in engineering. His work explores the unique knowledge these individuals acquire while growing up and how they use these skills to navigate engineering environments.
Ulises was named a 2022 fellow of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program. He is also a former fellow of the Station1 Frontiers Fellowship, the Micron Academy for Inclusive Leadership, and HACU ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute. In 2021, he established a scholarship for migrant students in Eastern Oregon to support their higher education pursuits.
As a first-generation, low-income Latino from a farm-working family, Ulises remains deeply committed to his community, dedicating his time to advancing educational and leadership opportunities.
