Long Bio
Tumininu Awonuga is a doctoral candidate whose research examines the communicative tensions and ambiguities that emerge as organizing becomes increasingly mediated by technology. Her work is premised on the idea that by integrating technology into organizing, notions about agency have shifted and agency has been decentered. The overarching question she answers in her research is the recursive consequences of integrating technology into organizing for the shift in the notion of agency for employees and actorhood for organizations.
She studies these dynamics across multiple contexts including employee dissent, personnel selection, and civic discourse. Her work draws on a range of tools, including surveys, experiments, statistical modeling, in-depth interviews, and thematic analysis, to investigate how technology shapes and is shaped by agency within organizational structures.
