Bee Gallegos is a full librarian serving as a liaison librarian to Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College and History in New College.
She began at ASU Library in February 1984 as a part-time temporary government documents librarian. Following that she was hired as one of two librarians to establish a library on the new West campus. After 4 years spent planning a new building, building a core collection, hiring staff, building outreach relationships with new faculty and developing services and policies the library moved into a permanent space as the first building on the West campus.
For many years Ms. Gallegos supported faculty & students in numerous disciplines: education, social work, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, recreation and travel/tourism, communication studies and nursing. In 2000 she was active in establishing information literacy competencies for the new freshmen as the West campus transitioned from upper division to all 4 years. In 2004 as Coordinator of Lower Division Instruction she led the effort to build an instruction program targeting first year students. That resulted in the development of a board game & an online [Fletcher Library Game Project: http://www.asu.edu.lib/game].
In 2007, Ms Gallegos assumed responsibility for acquisitions in Fletcher Library until centralization in 2009 when she became liaison for MLFTC and history within New College; she also has oversight of the Fletcher Library Test Collection and the Children’s & Young Adult Literature collection.
In 2013 she contributed to a project targeting transfer students https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5vGV_h7trA & the Learning Badges project developing tutorials for digital badges [http://badges.lib.asu.edu ]. Since 2014 Ms Gallegos has been co-lead of the Online Tutorials & Learning Team [OTL] revising& developing library tutorials with a number added to PRIMO a peer-reviewed national tutorials database supported by the Association of College & Research Libraries of the American Library Association.
