Ken Gleiman is a Professor of Practice at Arizona State University where he develops education programs for the Future Security Initiative and teaches in the School of Politics and Global Studies. He also teaches courses on strategy, policy, military operations, and irregular warfare at Georgetown University and serves as an Adjunct Political Scientist for the RAND Corporation.
Ken is a 27-year veteran of the United States Army (Colonel), a Green Beret, and Army Strategists. His assignments included; Panelist on the DOD China Task Force; Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities; Director of Strategy, Plans, and Assessments for the U.S. Security Coordinator to Israel and the Palestinian Authority; Director, U.S. Pacific Commander’s Action Group; and Director of Plans for Special Operations Component Command (Afghanistan). Earlier in his career, Ken also served in the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the 75th Ranger Regiment. His overseas tours include combat and operational assignments to Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Philippines as well as other assignments to Japan, Australia, and Korea.
Dr. Gleiman’s education includes a master’s degree in Policy Management from Georgetown University, a master’s degree from the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) and a master’s in Military History from the Army’s Art of War program. Ken earned his doctorate from Kansas State University in Security Studies and was the first U.S. Army Goodpaster Fellow. Ken is also a certified Strategy Management Professional (SMP) through the International Association of Strategy Professionals (IASP) and does consulting for businesses and non-profits in the Washington D.C. area.
His non-profit work includes Board Member and President of the Army Strategist Association.
Ken lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, Dr. Ashley Gleiman, and their two children.
