Deneil Christian

Dr. Deneil D. Christian is committed to developing the next generation of criminal justice professionals through rigorous teaching, research, and professional experience. His academic foundation is anchored by a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice and several graduate degrees. He brings a unique blend of convictions earned in the field and innovation in the classroom.

Dr. Christian’s law enforcement career began with the Jamaica Constabulary Force, where he served in various capacities, including intelligence, public information, mounted patrol, traffic enforcement, and special operations. He also served as a police officer in Louisiana, United States. His experience, including work with at-risk youth and juvenile offenders, fuels his teaching and research on juvenile justice, delinquency, corrections, and white-collar crime.

In K-12 education, Dr. Christian taught Business and Criminal Justice at an all-girls Catholic college-preparatory high school in Philadelphia. Since entering higher education, he has held roles such as tenure-track Assistant Professor, Teaching Assistant Professor (remote), Lead Faculty for online Criminal Justice programs, and Course Quality Assurance Coordinator. Dr. Christian’s undergraduate courses cover Law Enforcement, Juvenile Justice, White-Collar Crime, Corrections, and Homeland Security. At the graduate level, he teaches Comparative Criminal Justice Systems, White Collar Crime, and Juvenile Delinquency & Juvenile Justice.

Dr. Christian is a Certified Fraud Examiner whose research focuses on criminal justice/homeland security education, juvenile justice, and online teaching and learning. His recent publications focus on elder abuse in criminal justice curricula, the representation of white-collar and corporate crime in Jamaican criminal justice programs, camera use in synchronous online courses, and juvenile correctional education. He has published in the Journal of Criminal Justice Education, Youth Justice, Interactive Learning Environments, and the Journal of Criminal Justice and Law, among other journals.
