Long Bio
Lana Tilke is a 4th-year Astrophysics Ph.D. candidate studying planetary magnetism. With her advisor Dr. Joe O'Rourke, she models the thermal and magnetic evolution of outer Solar System moons to investigate whether they may have hitherto undetected dynamo-driven magnetic fields. Other areas of current research interest include the detectability of remanent magnetization, as a possible signature of an extinct dynamo or the early solar nebula. Although she has a particular fondness for icy moons and Kuiper Belt Objects, Lana is interested in developing a holistic understanding of a variety of planetary bodies from their deep interiors to their atmospheres, and beyond.
