Rebecca T. Barber is an assistant clinical professor in the Division of Education Policy and Innovation within the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Professor Barber has developed and teaches a 15-credit online graduate certificate on Advanced Analytics in Higher Education, designed to develop analytic capacity within higher education. Specific skills include data mining using Rapidminer, data visualization using Tableau, text mining, sentiment analysis, learning analytics, and financial forecasting. Further, the program includes extensive instruction and practice at data preparation and presenting the result of analytic projects to senior leadership. The program is targeted at administrators from all parts of the university, outside of the traditional Institutional Research organization as well as within.
Professor Barber is an acknowledged expert on the use of data visualization and predictive analytics within higher education and a regular speaker on the topic at conferences and workshops targeted at practitioners and higher education administrators.
