The College of Lib Arts & Sci
I am a Ph.D. Student in Spanish Linguistics and Lecturer of Spanish passionate about creating inclusive, community-centered learning environments where students develop confidence, cultural awareness, and meaningful communication skills. My teaching and research focus on Second Language Acquisition, language anxiety, learner identity, affective factors in language learning, and intercultural competence. I am especially interested in how emotional engagement, belonging, and authentic interaction shape language acquisition and student success.
Through collaborative learning, peer interaction, cultural initiatives, and community engagement projects, I strive to create spaces where students feel empowered to communicate, connect, and grow. At Coastal Carolina University, I took the lead of Club Ñ, founded the Patient Care and Community Club, and established the English–Spanish Language Exchange at the Horry County Memorial Library, promoting empathy, multilingual communication, and intercultural exchange within both the university and local community.
Originally from Spain’s Basque Country, I have educational and teaching experience in Spain, Ireland, and the United States. These international experiences have deeply shaped my commitment to multilingual education, inclusive pedagogy, intercultural understanding, and community engagement.
As both an educator and researcher, I am committed to fostering supportive learning environments that value diversity, encourage student voice, and strengthen connections through language and culture.
