Deborah L. Hall is an Associate Professor in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences in Arizona State University’s New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. She earned her B.A. in psychology from Claremont McKenna College and her Ph.D. in social psychology from Duke University.
Dr. Hall's research investigates social and group identity. Her current work explores three overlapping questions: (1) how can psychological theories and perspectives be integrated with computational approaches (e.g., machine learning) to better understand interactions on social media?, (2) how do aspects of social identity shape our perceptions of and interactions with others?, and (3) how do factors that promote psychological well-being vary based on social identity?
Additional information about current projects and upcoming opportunities in Dr. Hall’s research lab--the Identity and Social Relations Lab (ISRL)--can be found here. She is also the Faculty Director of the ASU Statistics and Methods (SAM) Lab and co-investigator on the BullyBlocker project, an interdisciplinary NSF-funded research collaboration examining cyberbullying on social media.
