Angela Huster
Angela Huster is an archaeologist specializing in the ancient cultures of Central Mexico, with a particular focus on the ways in which rulers and subjects interact. Her dissertation addressed how everyday people’s lives changed at the site of Calixtlahuaca after the site became part of the Aztec Empire and what this told us about the way the empire ruled its provinces. She is currently working on similar issues in earlier time periods, though field research with the Northern Basin of Mexico Historical Ecology Project (directed by Dr. Chris Morehart, SHESC), and the Chicoloapan Viejo Archaeological Project (Dr. Sarah Clayton, UW-Madison), and the the legacy data of the Teotihuacan Mapping Project. Her work focuses on the analysis of ancient ceramics. She is also a postdoc on the Urban Persistence Project, a pilot project to explore the factors that influence the longevity of human settlements, past and present.
