Anna Dugan recieved her BA and Masters of Education from Arizona State University. She attended Law School in Columbus, Ohio thinking that the legal profession was her calling. Shortly after, she realized that her talents would be better utilized in another field. While acquiring her Master's Degree, she worked as an Instructional Assistant in the English Department at Grand Canyon University. After completing her Master's program in Education she began teaching in low income districts at the upper elementary level. She taught all subjects and was quickly promoted to ELD coordinator for her school. Her writing and English skills helped her to establish a successful program for ELD teachers within the district. Her methods and instruction also serves as a platform for other teachers to observe concepts that they are struggling with. She has taken her experience and training from previous positions and now has applied it to a county district that mainly serves homeless and struggling youth. Her knowledge and quick learning has led her to promotions of Assistant Principal, test coordinator, teacher mentor, and PLC coordinator.
Ms. Dugan taught night classes at MCC for the English Department for one year. After learning about the Writer's Studio program at ASU Ms. Dugan put her knowledge and experience to work in her instruction for the Writer's Studio. She has been an adjunct instructor with the Writer's Studio since Spring of 2018. Ms. Dugan attends lectures, webinars, and professional development opportunities regulary in order to continue her education and be the best educator she can no matter the age or institution. She continues to grow as an instructor with every class she teaches as she feels that she learns from her students as much as they learn from her.
