Christine Holman

Chris(tine) Holman is an Associate Teaching Professor in the School of Social Transformation, who teaches a variety of courses in the area of Justice and Social Inquiry. These classes range from true crime, domestic violence, and genocide and human rights, to cinema and justice, and ethics and alternative tourism. Courses are offered both online and in-person. Additionally, Holman created, designed and leads a short term study abroad program to Europe, each May, focused on the Holocaust and human rights.

In addition to teaching and mentoring through global learning experiences, research mentorship and honors work, Holman developed and facilitated the School of Social Transformation's Graduate Teaching Development Program from 2014-2019. Recognized for her teaching, Holman was nominated for both the ASU Centennial Professor Award and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Outstanding Lecturer/Instructor Award (three times, most recently in 2021).

Holman is the faculty advisor for ASU's Amnesty International and Home Base Initiative student groups, has chaired and/or served on masters and numerous undergraduate honors thesis committees at ASU and is a board member for the annual Genocide Awareness Week conference. Holman has also served as the Justice and Social Inquiry Faculty Honors Advisor. Currently, Holman is working on an interactive, edited book on the subject of "ethics and alternative tourism" providing research experience to a small team of undergraduate students.
