Julie Kurth, MS, APR, is assistant director of marketing in Strategic Marketing and Communications at the Arizona State University Knowledge Enterprise. She elevates awareness of the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University. The institute serves as ASU’s premiere scientific innovation engine, advancing solutions in health, security and sustainability. Julie draws on years of experience in industry, for-profit and nonprofit public relations, marketing and communication settings to support the advancement of the scientific community’s research impact.
Prior to ASU, Julie was a senior corporate communications analyst at Caremark (now CVS Health), a pharmaceutical services company. While there, she led media campaigns and strategy, aided in the product launch of a cash card and formed and oversaw a speaker's bureau for executives to raise Caremark's profile among health care payers.
Before Caremark, Julie was a public affairs supervisor at State Farm Insurance. There, her responsibilities included media and internal communications, community relations and grassroots lobbying in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. She started her career as director of fundraising and public relations at NEWhouse, a battered women's shelter in Kansas City, Mo.
Julie earned a master of science in technical communication and writing from Arizona State University College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. She holds a bachelor of science in public relations from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo., and an accreditation in public relations.
