Julie Kurth, MS, APR, is assistant director of marketing in Strategic Marketing and Communications at Arizona State University’s Knowledge Enterprise. Beginning summer 2025, she will lead marketing strategy for the ASU Global Futures Laboratory, which was created with the urgent belief that we can and must help ensure a habitable planet and a future where well-being is attainable.
From 2006 to 2025, Julie led marketing and communications for the Biodesign Institute, ASU’s premiere scientific innovation hub advancing health and sustainability. She shaped the institute’s brand and strategic visibility, spearheading key initiatives including the launch of Biodesign C, communications for CXFEL Labs that supported a $91M NSF award, Arizona’s COVID-19 data dashboard and a 20th anniversary campaign that positioned the institute for the future.
Julie brings deep experience from across industry, nonprofit and corporate settings in strategic communications, marketing and public relations. Before joining ASU, she served as senior corporate communications analyst at Caremark (now CVS Health), where she led national media campaigns, supported the launch of a cash card program, was a key contributor to media relations for a publicly traded company and developed an executive speaker’s bureau to elevate brand presence with health care payers.
Earlier, Julie served as a public affairs supervisor at State Farm Insurance, where she managed media relations, internal communications and grassroots advocacy across Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. She began her career as director of fundraising and public relations at NEWhouse, a women’s shelter in Kansas City, Missouri.
Julie holds a master of science in technical communication and writing from Arizona State University and a bachelor of science in public relations from Northwest Missouri State University. She is accredited in public relations (APR). She is the current president-elect of the Public Relations Society of America Phoenix Chapter.
